Yes, I am still hot about people who were so outraged about Israel purposefully starving the children of Gaza - reports that responsible reporting are now calling unverified, exaggerated, etc. when the starvation of Israeli hostages was verified by photos and clips publicized by Hamas itself. Avinatan Or of Shilo was held for two years in isolation, much of the time chained to the bars of his cage that barely gave him room to lay down. I try to understand these otherwise committed Jews by seeing them as inevitably influence by their progressive surroundings. But I worry about what shame they might be carrying for having accused their own people of such serious moral deficiencies, of not digging into available research before leveling such devastating accusations at their own people. How to rebuild a relationship that one knowingly destroyed through ignorance and accepting the lies of enemies who are known for their lies? Not an easy situation.

Two rabbis are featured in this article: one the rabbi of a famous NYC congregation and tho other a progressive rabbi from France. I understand the liberal need to try to portray the enemy we are fighting against in a way that dows not dehumanize them, but when the enemy goes through such lengths to dehumanize themselves, I think it problematic at best to normalize such degrading acts of evil. If rabbis do not have the moral compass to call out such depravity, then what is a rabbi?

OH yeah! This article went so viral. A one line summary of her thesis: our society is suffering from he over-representation of women the highest levels of American society and women operate in different ways than men. They values that we associate with women and the way they characteristically interact and undermining crucial aspects of American society. if a man had written this, he would already have had the remaining bits and pieces of his body burnt to ashes. I don’t know if I agree with the thesis, but it is worth reading and you would like to respond to it, I’d be interested in hearing what you have to say about it.

Kat Rosenfeld had what to say about it, and this is her article. No spoilers here - if you want to know her opinion, you’ll have to read it for yourself. I like her.

Back in college days I read the massive book The Jewish Mind by Rafael Patai, and followed up on that by reading his book on The Arab Mind. Not much of it stuck with me, but I assume that some of my more unconscious understanding of the Arab mind is conditioned by his writing. The article in Mosaic is interesting and worth the read.

In Kentucky, we do not beat dead horses, rather we whip them on the way down the homestretch trying to induce the last bit of energy and spirit that allows a warm reception at the winner paddock. Not wanting to beat a horse, especially a dead one, I would just remind you that for years I have suggested that some of the best minds we have should be targeting Wikipedia in order to shoulder their anti-Israel sentiments on the Land of Israel.

Prof. Dan Sheuftan is one of the strangest speakers I’ve heard. He supported the withdrawal from Gaza and supports withdrawing from much ot Yehudah and Shomron, yet his views on Palestinian Arabs is not what your typical left-winder adopts. I confess that I do not understand the logic of his approach, but he is brilliant in his own iconoclastic way. Interviewed by Haviv Rettig Gur.

You may have heard that the IDF discovered Sinwar’s strategic plan against Israel for the Oct, 7 attacks in a bunker in Gaza. This is an interview conducted by Dan Señor that discusses this document and analyzes what Hamas what trying to achieve.
